Litchi (Litchi chinensis) is a premium subtropical fruit crop producing clusters of aromatic, juicy fruits with translucent sweet flesh. High commercial value with strong domestic and export demand. Mature trees yield 80–150 kg annually. Requires distinct cool-dry winter for flower induction. Thrives in deep, well-drained acidic soils (pH 5.0–7.0). Major cultivating regions include Bihar, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal.
