G9 (Grand Naine) is the most widely cultivated commercial banana variety in India, produced through tissue culture for disease-free, uniform plantations. Cavendish-type producing bunches weighing 25–35 kg with 10–12 hands. Harvest cycle of 11–13 months. Yields 50–70 tonnes per hectare. Excellent shelf life and export quality. Recommended spacing: 1.8m × 1.8m for high-density planting.
